'Its Liverpool' - Location Profile

My group (Ashleigh, Stevie, Hannah and Gemma) and I had a week or so to make a 90 second location profile in response to a live brief - the 'It's Liverpool' film competition. The competition was looking for new innovative and imaginative films that challenge the outdated perceptions of the city.

Our film had to be based around a specific location that we could tell the story of Liverpool on, we chose Bold Street as it’s quite a well-known, interesting and multi-cultural location with a lot of potential in terms of storytelling. The film must include time lapse shot(s).
Bold Street - Liverpool

Our initial idea was to have someone walking down bold street noticing different placards that say things like ‘It’s Culture’ or ‘It’s Music’, when they saw one it would cut to a shot of something to do with the placard, for example ‘It’s Music’ would be a busker. It would end with a well-known liverpudlian symbol, like a liver bird or a sign that says Liverpool on it. We had many problems with this idea such as: not being able to find an actor that fit the part, crew attendance and bad organization. In the end we thought we’d change the idea but keep some elements of our initial idea.

Our final product was a success which included people holding placards at the camera, buskers and good food!
