In my Friday film studies lecture we were told to do a film analysis of a film of our choice and the clip had to be around 3 minutes long (I chose Snatch. Sounds simple right? WRONG
When something involves you going through EVERY shot of a 3 minute film sequence and analysing them in terms of director’s intentions, mise en scene, cinematography etc. you’re going to have a bad time. Me being me, the massive procrastinator left this little peach of a task until the night before it had to be handed in not knowing the tedious potential this assignment would bring me.
After hours of vigorous pause pressing and rewinding because I missed a shot, I finally got it done! Mind you it was like 4am and I was mentally cabbaged by this point therefore I didn’t bother proof reading it and no other kind of careful back track took place as it was a kind of ‘hit and hope’ situation. Thankfully I got a 2.1 for it and that just goes to show that anything is possible, although I definitely wouldn’t recommend it at all!
Here, let me open the curtains so you have more inspiration from the sun. – Maisie Newman
